bef.10/5/1705.

Johanis Grene, as written on his will, descended from Sir
Alexander Grene de Boketon - Alexander de La Zouche and Lady Isabella de
Cantilupe.
John Grene married Elizabeth Myddleton, daughter of Sir
William Myddleton and grand daughter of Sir Hugh Myddleton.

Sir Hugh Middleton left issue one son, William who married and had issue.
William's eldest daughter married Mr John Grene and died in childbed, December
9, 1675, leaving two sons, Giles and William, and two daughters, Elizabeth and
Katherine. Her epitaph is in Enfield Church where the arms of Middleton are
misrepresented, being as here given: O. on a pilev., 3 wolves heads o.
Mr Grene lived in a house on the North side of Turkey Street, Enfield, now
inhabited by Mr Justice Coleman, and great part rebuilt since it was sold to Mr
Grene's heir. One of his daughters married Mr Hunt whose son Charles was an
attorney. He dropped down dead, and was buried in Mr Grenn's vault, leaving by
his wife, younger daughter of Mr North, an eminent brewer in London, a son at
Lincoln's Inn and a daughter.
In the house before mentioned was a portrait of Mr John Grene, in the dress of
the last century. To this house was annexed, by faculty, a pew in the Enfield
Church, to contnue their property so long as any of their family remained in the
Parish."

[The research into the origin of Mary Hughes is a work in
progress. No record can be found of her marriage to a PLACE at this stage but
the records of this whole family have been very difficult to find. It appears
from the research that the families are all linked together. Mary married George
Williams and emigrated to Australia with two of her sons by Charles North Hunt -
Edward and Frederick and her son Vincent George Williams born in 1804. Charles
North Hunt her previous husband did not die until 1827 and no record of divorce
can be found. Other members of the Hunt family joined them in Australia]
